The Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) announced that Taofik Adewale Adedosu will deliver the institution’s 74th inaugural lecture on the exploration of Nigeria’s untapped earth resources beyond the Niger Delta region.
According to the institution, the lecture is scheduled to hold on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at the Great Hall of the institution in Ogbomoso by 12 noon.
The lecture, titled, “Revealing the Nation’s Hidden Treasures Beyond the Niger Delta: Insights from Molecular Fingerprinting of Earth Resources,” will focus on scientific discoveries and research approaches used in identifying valuable natural resources across different parts of the country.
The event will hold under the distinguished chairmanship of the Vice-Chancellor of LAUTECH, Prof Rasaq Rom Kalilu.
The university noted that the inaugural lecture would provide deeper insights into molecular fingerprinting and organic geochemistry, particularly their applications in uncovering mineral and petroleum resources outside Nigeria’s conventional oil-producing zones.
Adedosu, a Professor of Organic Geochemistry at LAUTECH, obtained his Bachelor of Technology degree from the institution before proceeding to the University of Ibadan, where he earned both his Master’s and Doctorate degrees.
He also completed a postdoctoral programme at GIG, China, and is a fellow and member of several professional scientific bodies, including the Chemical Society of Nigeria and other international associations in geosciences and petroleum studies.
The institution described the inaugural lecture series as part of its academic tradition aimed at promoting intellectual engagement, research visibility, and contributions to national development through science and innovation.
