The Oyo State Local Government Forum has commended Governor Seyi Makinde for providing what it described as purposeful leadership that culminated in the successful emergence of consensus chairmanship and councillorship candidates of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) ahead of the December 29 local government elections in the state.
The commendation was contained in a statement issued by the Chairman of the Forum, Hon. Sikiru Sanda, and made available to journalists by the Forum’s Publicity Secretary, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo.
According to the Forum, Governor Makinde’s inclusive leadership style and commitment to internal democracy created an atmosphere that enabled the party to peacefully produce consensus candidates for both chairmanship and councillorship positions across all the 33 local government areas of the state.
The Forum noted that the seamless consensus process reflected the unity and strength of the APM, expressing confidence that the party would record a sweeping victory in the December 29 council elections.
The council chairmen also congratulated serving local government chairmen who secured the party’s ticket to seek a second term in office, while extending congratulations to the newly nominated candidates who will be contesting the elections for the first time.
They described the emergence of the candidates as a testament to the party’s cohesion and readiness for the forthcoming polls, urging all members to remain united and committed to delivering victory for the APM.
Reaffirming their loyalty to the state government, the Forum pledged its continued support for Governor Makinde’s administration, promising to work with the party and other stakeholders to sustain the developmental strides being recorded across Oyo State.
