The torrents of commendations heaped on the lawmaker representing Iseyin/Itesiwaju state constituency, Hon. Afees Adeleke were too much as he empowered hundreds of his constituents.
Oyo State Deputy Governor, Chief Moses Alake Adeyemo, Sen. Abdulfatai Buhari, Hon. Olasupo Abiodun, Deputy Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Barr. AbdulWasi Musah, other members of the Assembly, Adeleke’s predecessor, Hon. Salaam Fatai Adetunji, ex-chairman of Iseyin local government, Hon. Saheed Alaran, party leaders and others commended the lawmaker for the gesture, urging the people to continue to support him.
Beneficiaries went home with items worth millions of naira. The items included refrigerators, tiling machines, power generating sets, clippers, cloth-weaving equipment, sewing machines, farm implements, cash empowerment among others. This is apart from the boreholes projects and other community development projects he has delivered.
At the event which took place at the Government Technical College, Iseyin, Alake-Adeyemo said he was not surprised with the gesture of the lawmaker as he had known him to be selfless for long.
Buhari said the lawmaker, just his colleagues, has done well, adding that any politician who remembers his constituents as and when due will not be left alone.
Musah revealed that the gesture was borne out of the need to put smiles on the faces of their constituents, denying report that they were given constituency allowance by government. “It was out of the need to assist our people apart from our legislative functions. Those who could not make the list today should be rest assured that there turn will come,” he urged.
Olasupo while commending the lawmaker, urged beneficiaries to make good use of the tools. He said the gesture came at the right time as government, at all levels, is finding it hard to fulfil some of its obligations.
Urging support for the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state, Alaran said he was happy with the lawmaker’s gesture.
The initiator, Adeleke, expressed gratitude to members of his party, his constituents and other stakeholders for the support they have showered on him, adding that he would not let them down.
