The Stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Saki West local government area of Oyo state have assured the public of their commitment to transparency and accountability, particularly in the matter of land lease.
This assurance was given at the end of their meeting held on Saturday, March 14, 2025 as contained in a statement signed by Engineer Hamid Gbadamosi, former Deputy Governor of Oyo state
The stakeholders emphasized that they will not allow political sentiment to influence the land lease process, and instead, will advocate for leases that follow due process and ensure the proceeds are well utilized for the benefit of the community.
“We want to assure the people of Saki West Local Government that we will not allow political sentiment to be introduced into the matter of land lease.
“We believe in transparency and accountability, and we welcome scrutiny from members of society.” the statement read.
The PDP Saki West Stakeholders highlighted their track record of delivering strategic development projects in the town, including:
– Infrastructure Development: Completion of the dual carriage way, Oysada renovation, ongoing stadium construction, solar street light installation, and upgrade of Saki Ogboro road.
– Healthcare and Education: Construction of a General Hospital and recruitment of teachers and civil servants.
– *Community Development: Installation of Okere after a 5-year interregnum.
The stakeholders also acknowledged communication gaps and misinformation that may have led to concerns and criticisms, but assured the public that they are committed to transparency and accountability.
“We acknowledge that there were communication gaps and misinformation in the government circle and the public, which may have led to some of the concerns and criticisms.
“However, we want to assure the public that we are committed to transparency and accountability, and we will do everything possible to ensure that our citizens are well informed about our activities.” It added.
To address concerns and provide more information, the stakeholders will be extending invitations to key stakeholders, including the National Caretaker Committee of Saki Parapo, Representative of Okere in Council, and Representatives of Religious Organizations.
“We believe that these stakeholders play a crucial role in our community, and we look forward to engaging with them in a constructive and transparent manner,” it read.
Looking ahead, the stakeholders have advised the Chairman and members of his executive council to explore opportunities to acquire more land outside the town for future development, ensuring a forward-thinking approach to planning for the future.
“We will not tolerate cheap blackmail or attempts to politicize our administration’s efforts.
“Instead, we’ll continue to work tirelessly to deliver meaningful projects and services to our community.” It added.
