The Publisher of OyoMind News, Gbenga Oyetola, has congratulated the Group Managing Director of Sahara Power Group, Dr. Kola Adesina, on the occasion of his 62nd birthday, describing him as one of the prominent voices contributing to the growth and development of Nigeria’s energy sector.
Adesina, who clocks 62 today, August 12, 2026, has built a career spanning insurance, finance, energy, trade, diplomacy and business leadership. His years in the energy sector have seen him play important roles in Nigeria’s power industry, including serving as Chairman of Ikeja Electric and previously as Chairman of Egbin Power Plc.
Oyetola said Adesina’s contribution to the power sector goes beyond his corporate responsibilities, noting his continued advocacy for greater investment, innovation and improved infrastructure as Nigeria seeks lasting solutions to its electricity challenges.
He particularly commended Adesina’s efforts to promote conversations around the future of Africa’s energy industry and his involvement in initiatives aimed at expanding access to electricity across the continent.
In April 2026, Adesina was appointed to the Mission 300 Private Sector Council, a platform backed by the World Bank Group, African Development Bank and Rockefeller Foundation, which is working towards connecting 300 million Africans to electricity by 2030.
Oyetola described the appointment as further recognition of Adesina’s experience and contribution to the energy sector, saying his participation in the council provides another opportunity for Nigerian expertise to contribute to discussions on Africa’s energy future.
He also noted Adesina’s academic and professional background, which includes studies at the University of Lagos and executive programmes at Harvard Business School and The Wharton School.
According to the publisher, Adesina’s career remains a reflection of the role that experienced private-sector leaders can play in shaping Nigeria’s economic development, particularly in a sector as critical as electricity.
As he celebrates his 62nd birthday, OyoMind News joins his family, colleagues, friends and associates in wishing Dr. Kola Adesina many more years of good health, wisdom and fulfilment.
