The Chairman of ATISBO Local Government Area of Oyo State, Alhaji Alade Olumuyiwa Bashir, has donated over N1m to his alma mater, ADS High School, Ago-Are, during the school’s 2026 valedictory service.
The council chairman, who attended the event alongside the school management, staff, parents and graduating students, also gave N50,000 to the school management and staff as a token of appreciation for their efforts in nurturing the students.
Speaking at the ceremony, Alade urged the graduating students to remain focused on their academic pursuits, describing the completion of their secondary education as the beginning of another phase of their lives.
He shared his academic journey with the students, noting that he started his tertiary education at the Polytechnic of Kebbi before proceeding to the university, where he eventually obtained a Master’s degree.
The chairman, who noted that he was the second former student of ADS High School, Ago-Are, to become a local government chairman, commended the management and staff of the school for their dedication to the academic and moral development of the students.
He also praised the school for producing outstanding students, particularly Miss Rufai Selimoh, who emerged as the winner of an essay-writing competition organised to mark his first anniversary in office.
According to him, Rufai’s achievement, among other accomplishments by students of the school, had made him and other old students of ADS High School proud.
Alade further appealed to parents and guardians to prioritise the education of their children, stressing that young people remained the future of the community and the country.
As part of his contributions to the development of the school, the chairman constituted a three-man committee to identify the most pressing needs of the institution.
The committee is chaired by the President of the ADS High School Old Students Association, Alhaji Lawal Jelili, while the PTA Chairman, Mr Shuib Ismail, and a staff member, Hon. Mustapha Sheu, serve as members.
Alade subsequently donated N1m to the committee to address the identified needs of the school.
The council chairman also rewarded the best graduating student with N10,000 and gave N5,000 each to students who emerged as the best in various subjects, including English Language, Mathematics, Accounting, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Arts, Science, Commerce, Economics and Literature.
