Princess Adedolapo Oni, Chief Executive Officer of Ruffy Edward Initiative and granddaughter of the late Chief T.A. Oni of the renowned Oni & Sons family, has been conferred with a Doctor of Business Administration (Honoris Causa) by Prowess University, Delaware, USA.
The award recognises her years of sustained contribution to human and community development, with particular focus on education for the less privileged, hunger alleviation, and youth empowerment across public schools and communities in Nigeria.
In an official memo to the honouree, Prowess University cited her “outstanding contributions to business leadership and information technology,” as well as her “flair for excellence in entrepreneurship and enterprise development.” The institution also highlighted her “impactful humanitarian service and commitment to community upliftment” as achievements that will stand “as testimonies in the sands of time.”
From Royal Heritage to Global Impact
Princess Adedolapo Oni hails from the revered Oni/Fadumila royal lineage of Okemesi Ekiti. She is the proud granddaughter of the late Chief T.A. Oni, whose legacy remains etched in Ibadanland through the historic Oni & Sons building, which was handed over to the Oyo State Government and now serves as a public hospital.
Her academic path reflects both local grounding and global exposure. She began at Maryhill Convent School and St. Anne’s School, Ibadan, before attending the International School, Ibadan. She later earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Language from the University of Maiduguri, followed by a degree in Business and Event Management and a Master of Science in Business and Project Management from Anglia Ruskin University in the United Kingdom.
Complementing her academic qualifications, Princess Oni holds globally recognised professional certifications in Information Technology, Project Management, and Data Management, including PRINCE2. These credentials have underpinned her work in delivering innovative solutions, improving organisational efficiency, and managing complex systems.
As founder of the Ruffy Edward Initiative, Princess Oni has driven transformative projects aimed at bringing relief to struggling households, tackling malnourishment, and addressing the out-of-school children crisis by facilitating their return to classrooms. The NGO has maintained a consistent presence in public schools and underserved communities, combining direct interventions with advocacy.
Speaking after the conferment, Princess Oni said her work through the foundation is rooted in a commitment to “bring succour to homes, address malnourishment, and play a critical role in getting out-of-school children back to school.”
