A passionate appeal has gone to all political parties contesting the 2027 National elections in Oyo State to concede the Egbeda/Ona-Ara federal constituency to Ona-Ara Local Government.
This is to ensure equity, justice, and fairness in representation at the federal house by candidates from the two local governments that make up the federal constituency.
The Ona-Ara Development Forum, the apex social/cultural association of indigenes of Ona-Ara at home and in the diaspora, made the call in Ibadan today after an extensive meeting of elders of the forum.
A communique issue at the end of the meeting said that the Ona Ara elders were alarmed that after sixteen years of Egbeda representation, the incumbent Federal Representative Hon. Akin Alabi is still being pushed for a third term.
According to the communique read by the President, Ona-Ara Development Forum Alhaji Kola Bolomope, this runs contrary to the mutual understanding between the two local governments on representation at the House of Representatives.
The Ona-Ara elders commended the various advocacy groups that have been drumming it loud that it is now the turn of Ona-Ara to produce the Fed. Rep.
While commending the performance of Hon. Akin Alabi at the House of Representatives in the last seven years, the Ona-Ara Development Forum is of the view that Ona-Ara is blessed with many capable aspirants who will represent the constituency very well.
All political leaders in Ona-Ara, irrespective of their political parties, were enjoyed to pursue this common goal and collaborate with their colleagues from Egbeda in ensuring that the representation at the federal house shifts to Ona-Ara by 2027.
