A Leader Who Transforms Lives
In every society, true leadership is measured not by titles but by impact. For the people of Oyo North Senatorial, Professor Adeolu Akande has already proven himself as a leader who uplifts communities, empowers youths, and creates opportunities that change lives.

Long before seeking elective office, he has consistently demonstrated that development begins with people and that empowering them is the surest path to progress.
Tackling Unemployment through Job Creation

Unemployment remains one of Nigeria’s most pressing challenges, especially among young graduates. Prof. Akande has distinguished himself as a leader who does not merely sympathise with the plight of the youth but takes deliberate steps to change their circumstances.

Through his influence and extensive network across both public and private sectors, he has facilitated employment for countless young men and women in reputable institutions such as:
i. Federal agencies: NDLEA, FIRS, NCC, NIMC, Nigeria Customs Service, Nigeria Police Force.
ii. Educational institutions: University of Ibadan, LAUTECH, Emmanuel Alayande University of Education.
iii. Private sector: MTN Nigeria, Airtel Nigeria, TotalEnergies Nigeria.
iv. State institutions: Oyo State Civil Service, Hospital Management Board, SUBEB.

Each placement represents more than just a job, it is hope restored, dignity regained, and families empowered. When one young person secures employment, it often means relief for parents, support for siblings, and inspiration for the entire community.

Empowering Youths Through Digital Skills
Recognising that the future belongs to a technologically empowered generation, Prof. Akande championed digital training initiatives across Oyo State. Between 2020 and 2023, he facilitated Digital Job Creation and ICT Training Programmes in collaboration with the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).

These programmes provided:
i. Laptop computers and internet modems.
ii. Cash support for small digital businesses.
iii. Professional mentorship in ICT and entrepreneurship.

Hundreds of young people benefited, many of whom now thrive in ICT careers, online entrepreneurship, and technology-driven enterprises. His vision is clear: “a future where the youths of Oyo North are not merely consumers of technology but creators, innovators, and leaders in the digital space.”

Supporting Education and Small Businesses
Through the Adeolu Akande Foundation, Prof Akande extended his commitment to education and entrepreneurship. Hundreds of students have received financial support to pursue tertiary education, breaking the cycle of poverty and opening doors to brighter futures.

Small business owners, artisans, and traders have also benefited from business-support programmes, enabling them to expand their ventures and create sustainable sources of income. Vocational training initiatives further empower youths with practical skills, making them self-reliant and economically productive.

Compassionate Humanitarian Service
What makes these efforts remarkable is that they are not driven by political ambition but by genuine compassion. Prof. Akande has consistently shown that leadership begins with service. His humanitarian initiatives from scholarships to business support reflect a leader who listens, cares, and acts to improve lives.

More than just a senatorial aspirant
Prof. Adeolu Akande’s record of empowerment and development speaks for itself. He has created jobs, equipped youths with digital skills, supported education, and strengthened communities all without holding elective office.

For Oyo North, he represents more than a aspirant for the Senate; he is a champion of opportunity, a builder of futures, and a leader whose impact is already visible in countless households and communities. His work proves that true development begins with empowering people, and his vision ensures that the youths of Oyo North will step confidently into a future filled with possibilities.

Dr Amao writes from Igboho, Oorelope Local Government, Oyo State.
