The race for the Oyo South Senatorial District seat gained significant momentum on Monday as frontline aspirant, Kolapo Kola-Daisi, visited the All Progressives Congress (APC) State Secretariat in Oke-Ado to officially notify the State Executive Committee of his intention to contest.
Amidst a sea of cheering supporters, Kola-Daisi met with the party leadership to outline his vision for the district, positioning himself as the bridge between traditional legislative experience and the “youthful vigor” required for modern governance.
Kola-Daisi informed the party executives that his ambition is backed by high-level consultations, noting that he had received a nod from the Presidency to proceed with his quest to represent the district.
Emphasizing his demographic advantage, he promised to bring energy, innovation, and a fresh perspective to the Red Chamber, arguing that the time has come for the younger generation to take the mantle of leadership.
Addressing concerns regarding the geographical spread of development, Kola-Daisi gave a firm commitment that “no zone will miss out” on his watch.
He pledged to ensure an equitable distribution of resources and projects across the nine local governments that make up Oyo South.
He also recalled the support he previously received from party members, which he said contributed to his past successes, and appealed for continued backing ahead of the forthcoming election.
“I am here to offer myself as a servant-leader. My focus is on bringing direct interventions—be it in education, infrastructure, or economic empowerment—to our constituents. We are moving away from passive representation to active, results-driven legislative engagement.”
The APC State Executive Committee, led by the State Chairman, Chief Moses Adeyemo received the aspirant warmly. While maintaining the party’s stance on providing a level playing field for all contenders, the leadership commended Kola-Daisi for his loyalty to the party and his decision to follow official channels in expressing his intent.
Also speaking, Oyo South APC senatorial leader, Honourable Delesolu, the state youth leader, Honourable Olalekan Glory, The state woman leader, Dr Adekemi Opatunde described KKD as a man of substance, brilliance and amiable personality, expressing confidence in his capacity to deliver dividend of democracy if given the mandate.
