In a world drowning in conflict headlines and crisis alerts, the World Peace Initiative Foundation, Thailand, is raising a new kind of rebels in Africa; those who lead with empathy and self-awareness, and build peace from within.
Through its recent Empowerment Boot Camp (EBC) in Nigeria, the international organization, through its local offshoot, the Ibadan Alliance team, went beyond talking about peace. It focused on training people to live it.
Held from May 23rd -May 25th 2025, at the Ife Grand Resort in Osun state, the three-day bootcamp brought together 33 young leaders and professionals passionate about cultivating inner peace and promoting it as a foundation for achieving lasting global peace.
Participants from four peace clubs namely Abeokuta Peace Club of Nigeria (ABPCN), Ibadan Peace Club of Nigeria (IBPCN), Ilorin Peace Club of Nigeria (ILPCN) and Osogbo Peace Club of Nigeria (OSPCN) engaged together, facilitating collaboration and the exchange of peacebuilding strategies.
Using the BetterMe Model; a proprietary self-development tool of the World Peace Initiative Foundation, the EBC participants took part in sessions aimed at building emotional awareness, self-discipline, and interpersonal skills.
The camp focused on inner peace as a pathway to community leadership, using guided meditations, reflective exercises, icebreaking sessions, and group discussions.
Beyond the sessions, the camp became a shared space for reflection, connection, and collaboration.
Participants exchanged peacebuilding strategies, shared lived experiences, and discovered common ground across personal and cultural differences.
By the end of the boot camp, something had shifted. Despite arriving as club members, each participant left as a Peace Rebel-plus with a renewed sense of direction not just as peacebuilders, but as transformed individuals ready to lead change from within.
In an age when the loudest voices often dominate, the EBC reminds us that real transformation begins quietly within.
