Akande, who was Chief of Staff to Governor Abiola Ajimobi, said he is proud to be associated with Oke, adding that the Ogbomoso-born politician has proved to be a leader with capacity, even in troubled times.
Recalling how Oke led the then Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, to victory in 2011 against the the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Akande explained that “Chief Akin Oke stood firm with his conscience andvworked diligently to lead the party to victory. I know the kind of pressure that would have been mounted on him. He has always proved to be a committed Progressive. Baba has always proved to be a man of integrity; he is a born progressive.
“The story of how our great party and Governor broke the second jinx in the state cannot be told without the mention of his name. He rallied the party and provided the needed leadership that ensured victory for us in the 3 senatorial districts and 12 out of the 14 federal constituencies in the 2015 general elections. Today, the APC has become the iroko of of all political parties in the state as all major players have teamed up with our party.” he noted.
Akande, who lectures at the Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State, prayed that “May you live longer to provide the needed leadership for us especially as we approach the 2019 elections. This will, in no small way, ensure victory for our party. I pray God gives you good health and everything needed to journey further in life. Happy birthday Baba!,” the statement added.
