The Karim Adeyemi Foundation (KAF), in collaboration with the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and the Nigerian Red Cross Society, officially launched its “Safe Schools Initiative” themed “First Aid for All” at a high-impact event held at IDC Primary School, Gbagi, Ibadan.
The initiative aimed at improving emergency response in public schools featured the distribution of fully equipped first aid boxes to 50 primary schools across six local government areas: Egbeda, Akinyele, Lagelu, Ido, Oluyole, and Ona Ara.
It also included a one-day CPR and basic first aid training for teachers and pupils, emphasizing the importance of school safety through preparedness and practical knowledge.
Speaking at the event, the President of the Karim Adeyemi Foundation, Mr. Abiodun Adeyemi, father of Borussia Dortmund star Karim Adeyemi, expressed deep appreciation to the partners and supporters of the initiative, including Karim Adeyemi Stiftung and AYEESSI NGO from both Nigeria and Germany.
“This program represents more than just the distribution of first aid boxes. It embodies our collective commitment to the safety and well-being of schoolchildren in Oyo State. It’s about empowering educators and young learners with life-saving knowledge and the confidence to act in emergencies.” he said.
Mr. Adeyemi extended gratitude to his son for his unwavering support of the foundation’s mission, stating: “Karim has consistently demonstrated his passion for empowering communities. His belief in education, health, and service continues to inspire all that we do.”

Representing the Executive Chairman of SUBEB, Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, the Executive Secretary, Princess Olaide Ladipo, lauded the foundation’s impactful gesture and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to child safety in schools.
Her words: “Education thrives best in an environment where children feel safe and supported. This initiative by the Karim Adeyemi Foundation is a timely and commendable intervention. These first aid boxes, paired with hands-on CPR training, address a vital gap in our school safety infrastructure.”
Ladipo also highlighted that the Oyo State Government has employed over 7,000 teachers and continues to improve school infrastructure and teacher training but emphasized the critical role of partnerships with private organizations.
“We are particularly impressed by the foundation’s promise to replenish these first aid kits regularly. That sustainable commitment is exactly what our schools need,” she added.
One of the participating teachers, Mrs. Alarape from Akinyele local government, said: “This training is a game-changer. Now I feel more prepared to protect my pupils in case of emergencies.”

The highlight of the event included the presentation of first aid equipment to the represented schools, as well as practical CPR and first aid training sessions for both teachers and pupils, facilitated by professionals from the Nigerian Red Cross Society.
Participants were taught how to respond to injuries, perform basic life-saving techniques, and effectively use the tools in their newly provided first aid kits.
