The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja on Monday installed four new Mogajis and charged them to uphold the dignity of their offices by shunning land grabbing, drug abuse, corruption and other criminal activities capable of tarnishing the image of the ancient city.
The monarch, who was represented by the Ekerin Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Akeem Mobolaji Adewoyin, congratulated the newly installed Mogajis and urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them by serving their respective families and communities with integrity
A statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Olubadan, Chief Solomon Ayoade, shortly after the installation ceremony held at the Banquet Hall of the Olubadan Palace, Oke-Aremo, Ibadan, warned the traditional title holders against engaging in acts capable of bringing the palace and Ibadanland into disrepute.
“You must not be involved in any nefarious activities that can tarnish the image of the Olubadan and Ibadanland, such as land grabbing, hatred, vendetta, drug abuse and corruption, among others. You will be held responsible for any criminal act committed within your domains,” Olubadan said.
The monarch also reminded the new Mogajis of their responsibility as representatives of the Olubadan.
“You are my ambassadors wherever you are. Consequently, you should key into my vision of taking Ibadanland to greater heights,” he said.
The Olubadan further admonished all traditional rulers in Ibadanland to preserve and promote the cultural heritage of the people.
“The primary responsibility of every properly installed or coronated traditional ruler is to uphold, preserve and promote the traditional and cultural heritage of his people,” the monarch added.
