Renowned philanthropist and founder of Omituntun Benedict Foundation, Chief Benedict Akika, has made his first public appearance after his release, thanking distinguished personalities for their unwavering support.
At the monthly meeting of the Omituntun Benedict Forum (OBF) held in Akinyele/Lagelu local government, Chief Akika expressed deep appreciation to Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, Otunba Joseph Adeseye Famojuro, Alhaji Lekan Salawudeen, Oyo Assembly Speaker Rt Hon Adebo Ogundoyin, and members of Oyo State House of Assembly.
Chief Akika also commended the efforts of security agencies, including the Commissioner of Police, Nigeria Army, DSS, NSCDC, Amotekun, and media outlets in Oyo State, for their role in securing his release.
Describing his ordeal as “challenging,” Chief Akika praised the swift response of security agencies and well-wishers. He extended special appreciation to his wife, Chief (Mrs) Bidemi Akika, and his family for their vigilance and support.
“I am grateful to be reunited with my family and loved ones,” Chief Akika said. “I sincerely extend my appreciation to my wife, Chief (Mrs) Bidemi Akika, for her belief in God, patience, and understanding.”
Chief Akika also thanked the Ololorunda of Olorunda-Abaa, Oba Samuel Abiodun Folarin, for his selfless efforts in securing his safe release. He equally appreciated the executives, elders, and members of Omituntun Benedict Forum (OBF), community organizations, and religious leaders across the nation for their prayers and support.
The People’s Democratic Party, including State Executives, Local Government, and Wards, also received Chief Akika’s gratitude. “Your generosity helped secure my safe release and brought comfort to my family. Your kindness will never be forgotten,” he said.
