Oyo state woke up to cleaner neighbourhoods and streets early this morning. As early as 6:00am this morning, some environmentally conscious youths of the State took to cleaning their immediate environments, schools, markets, communities and general streets in the Oyo State Sanitation Challenge tagged #OSSChallenge.
The young citizens of the Pace Setter state set themselves up into a structure that covers the 5 geo-political zones of Oyo state, including Ibadan, Ibarapa, Oke Ogun, Ogbomosho and Oyo. Each zone represented a unique colour for ease of identification; Ibadan team in green, Ibarapa in Red, Oke Ogun in Yellow, Ogbomosho in blue and Oyo in White. They visited and teamed up with state environment workers to clean general streets, markets and schools in various communities within Oyo state.
The challenge required members of each zone clean up their communities and engage community members on the various benefits of a cleaner environment as well as what cleaner communities can do for the development and health of the state and its citizens.
The 200-man team across 5 major Oyo state towns and cities was led by Mrs. Fatimah Hassan, President of the Bayo Adelabu Youth Organisation (B.A.Y,O). She explained that the youths of Oyo state are eager to partner with the Government of the day and help take the state to the next level as it transits from the steady hands of incumbent Governor Abiola Ajimobi to a youthful and digital leader in Mr. Adebayo Adelabu. She stated that one of the key pillars on Mr. Adelabu’s campaign promise borders on cleanliness.
