A member of the House of Representatives from Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa federal constituency, Oyo State, Hon. Shina Peller, has charged Nigerians home and abroad not to allow numerous challenges encountered in 2020 prevent them from focusing on the great opportunities ahead of the new year.
Hon. Peller stated this in his new year message contained in a statement released by his Media Office on January 1st 2021, where he also congratulated everyone for witnessing the beginning of a new year notwithstanding the numerous life-threatening challenges of the year 2020.
Similarly, Hon. Peller enjoined all to reflect on their action and inaction in the year 2020 with a view to identifying their mistakes and learning from them to prevent a reoccurrence in the new year.
The statement read below:
“A hearty congratulations to everyone of us that has made it into 2021. We should note that our making it into a new year doesn’t mean that we are better or holier than the people who could not make it, it was the grace of God that we enjoined.
“Regrettably, 2020 had been a very troublesome year characterized by a lot of challenges ranging from COVID-19 pandemic, which has not only paralysed the global economy but claimed so many lives, to the insecurity in our country and aftermath of the hijacked protest which has in a way taken us backward. It was really a challenging year!
“In spite of how challenging 2020 had been, we still managed to conquer it. That we were able to crossover to a new year is a pointer that God has a purpose for us to serve in 2021 especially in making ourselves, our country and the world better. We should prepare ourselves focusing on the opportunities ahead.
“Importantly, as a new year begins today, we should reflect briefly on our action and inaction in 2020 with a view to identifying our mistakes, learning from them and avoiding a reoccurrence in 2021.
“Similarly, as we remain very hopeful that 2021 will be a more fruitful and fulfilling year, let us also anticipate challenges and be prepared to tackle and overcome them. Don’t let us forget that the battle against the deadly COVID-19 is still on, hence the need for us to be cautious and adhere strictly to all the laid down precautionary guidelines against it.
“Finally, I say Happy New Year to everyone of us and pray that 2021 offers us the best of everything that our hearts desire.”
