Councillors in Saki East local government area of Oyo state have urged the lawmaker representing Saki East and Atisbo state constituency, Hon Saminu Riliwanu Gbadamosi popularly known as Wale Canada to unite the People’s Democratic Party, PDP in the local government area.
The councillors who are members of the legislative arm of the local government also passed a vote of confidence in the lawmaker for his roles in the local government and wards congresses and his support to the party.
Speaking during a courtesy visit to the lawmaker in his office in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital, the Leader of the House, Mr Adebisi Adeduntan said the unity of the party at the local government was non negotiable.
Adeduntan said that one of the reasons they came to pay a courtesy visit to the lawmaker in Ibadan was to urge and charge him to unite the party adding that for Governor Seyi Makinde to continue his good governance for another term, a united PDP was essential.
He said the councillors have passed a vote of confidence in the lawmaker adding that it was a unanimous decision by all members.
He also called on party leaders and stakeholders in the local government to come together ahead of the 2023 general elections to enable the people of Saki East and Oyo state to continue to enjoy the dividends of democracy under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde.
His words: “We are here today not just on a courtesy visit to our representative at the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Saminu Riliwanu Gbadamosi but to urge and charge him and let him know reasons why our party needs to be united.
“We are giving him and other leaders the mandate to unite the party ahead of the 2023 general elections to allow Governor Seyi Makinde to continue his good work for the good people of Saki East local government area.
“The good work and good governance of Engineer Seyi Makinde must must continue beyond 2019 because for us in Oke Ogun, we are enjoying the dividends of democracy and I’m sure other zones are enjoying it too.
“Also we are happy to inform everyone that we have passed a vote of confidence in him for his roles in the local government and wards congresses and of course, his support to the party”
The councillors who paid the visit included Mr Adebisi Adedutan; Leader, Mr Poopo’ola Abdul; Deputy leader, Mr Fatai Saliman; Majority Leader, Mr Abiola Olaosepin; Chief Whip, Mr Yusuuf Olatunji; Deputy Majority Leader, Mr Akinbowale Moshood.
Others are Mr Babalola, Mr Bashir, Mr Isiaq Azeez, Mr Ayandare and Mr Olayiwola Biliaminu.
