The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, South-West Zone D has announced plans to host The Barr. Sharafadeen Alli Students Leadership Training and Advancement Summit (SLTAS ’26), a high-level gathering aimed at building capacity and shaping the next generation of student leaders.
The summit, according to the Deputy Coordinator of NANS South-West Zone D, Ridwan A.O.A. | Pal. Solution, will hold in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, and will bring together 350 carefully selected student leaders from higher institutions across the country.
Ridwan said the selection was deliberately structured to converge young leaders with proven commitment, exceptional leadership potential and the capacity to positively influence the Nigerian student community.
In a statement on Monday, the NANS South-West office named Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, who represents Oyo South Senatorial District, as the Keynote Speaker for the summit.
Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi, popularly known as Okanlomo Oodua, will serve as Chairman of the Occasion, while Hon. Asefon Sunday Dayo, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Students Engagement, will deliver remarks as Guest Speaker. Other eminent personalities are also expected to share insights at the strategic gathering.
Beyond being a conventional leadership programme, the statement noted that SLTAS ’26 is positioned as a platform for intellectual engagement, leadership development, strategic networking and exchange of ideas that can shape a more united and visionary student leadership system.
“With the calibre of personalities expected and the careful selection of 350 emerging and established student leaders, SLTAS ’26 is set to become a defining moment in student leadership development and a major investment in the future of the Nigerian student movement,” the statement said.
The Deputy Coordinator added that the summit is “not just another gathering, but a deliberate investment in leaders who will shape institutions, influence communities and define the future.”
