The major challenge facing the youth populace today across Oyo state is unemployment, worst still is the inconsistency of the educational system which the new government is working hard to address, however, efforts must be supported with real action to follow through to restore the lost glory of Oyo state education.
The rate of unemployment is unimaginable, otherwise, Oyo state wouldn’t be ranked as the number one state in Nigeria for cyber crimes as reported in the media recently.
Rising at the inauguration of Youths for New Nigeria, Oyo state chapter today, 30th of June 2019, the National Leadership Director, Comrade Usman Bamidele who represented the National Coordinator, Comrade Sunday Obanubi, challenged the new government of Engr Seyi Makinde to use his good office and wealth of entrepreneurship to focus on providing employment for the teaming youth populace across the state as this won’t only curb social vices but it would also increase the revenue of the state and create wealth for her people.
Comrade Abdulwahab Ameen who is the Oyo state coordinator for YNN assured all of his readiness to represent the youths interest effectively. He spoke on the need to work hard to be self reliance and challenge the status quo by not being dependent on the government for daily bread.
Comrade Usman Bamidele also challenged the governor to prioritize the youth ministry as we are the strength of the state and the only hope of transformation for the nation. He said, “As a young man you are, kindly make use of the intellectual prowess and energy readily available to you within the state for equitable development so, the story of Ibadan would be told for good in your time”.
The need for more industries to ensure adequate employment cannot be overemphasized and providing conducive environment for entrepreneurship is paramount to lead a good government; He added.
The Youths for New Nigeria (YNN) is a youth focused movement across Nigeria encouraging and supporting youthful ideas and innovative programs for the growth and development of Nigeria.
