The Olugbon of Orile-Igbon, Oba Francis Olusola Alao, has commiserated with the Ooni of Ife, Ooni Adeyeye Ogunwusi, over the death of his immediate elder brother, Prince Adetunji Ogunwusi.

Oba Alao, in a statement on Tuesday, said he received the news of the demise of Prince Ogunwusi with profound sadness and a deep sense of loss.

But he urged Oba Ogunwusi to seek solace in the life of distinction and service which his deceased brother lived.

The Olugbon extolled Prince Ogunwusi’s qualities and achievements including being a successful entrepreneur and community leader who carried the royal heritage with excellence. Oba Alao said Prince Ogunwusi’s contributions to Nigeria’s private sector development cannot be erased. As a Group Chairman of Prime Waterview Holdings and Chairman of Prime Waterview Limited, the monarch said the late prince demonstrated exceptional capacity for innovation, strategic thinking and institution-building.

“Prince Ogunwusi was widely admired for his integrity, humility, resilience and commitment to uplifting others. His leadership style was anchored on discipline, professionalism and a genuine desire to create opportunities for growth and development. He earned the respect of business partners, colleagues, entrepreneurs and countless individuals who encountered his wisdom, generosity and compassionate spirit.

“Beyond his achievements in the business world, Prince Ogunwusi represented the values of dignity, honour and responsibility that define the rich heritage of the Yoruba people. He carried the pride of the Ojaja lineage with grace and contributed meaningfully to society through his commitment to progress, community development and service to humanity,” the statement read in part.

Oba Alao added that Prince Ogunwusi’s passing is not only a profound loss to his family but also a great loss to Nigeria’s business community, traditional institutions and all who believe in purposeful leadership.

The monarch stated that the people of Orile-Igbon stand in consolation with the Ooni of Ife, the Ogunwusi family and the people of Ile-Ife during this period of mourning.

“At this moment of grief, on behalf of my wife, Olori Olushola Adedoyin-Alao, and the good people of Orile-Igbon, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Ooni of Ife, the entire Ogunwusi family, the illustrious Giesi Ruling House of Ile-Ife, friends, associates, colleagues, and all those whose lives were touched by Prince Adetunji Ogunwusi,” the statement added.

He prayed that Almighty God would grant Oba Ogunwusi and the entire family the strength, comfort and fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.
