President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday met with former Senate Leader, Teslim Folarin, in an apparent move to rally the former Oyo State governorship candidate behind the All Progressives Congress’ 2027 candidate, Sharafadeen Alli.
The Tuesday meeting held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
According to a source closer to Folarin, it is believed to be part of efforts to unite the party’s major stakeholders and resolve lingering differences within the Oyo APC ahead of the February 2027 governorship election.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) selected Alli as its candidate after a closely contested nomination process involving several prominent aspirants, including former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu.
On July 2, at a ceremony in Ibadan, Alli was officially presented as the party’s governorship candidate alongside his running mate, Adesoji Adedeji.
His emergence followed a series of consultations among APC leaders in Oyo State, who agreed to back him as a consensus candidate. Reports indicated that the decision also had the support of President Tinubu.
However, the selection process generated controversy within the party. Adelabu and some other aspirants challenged the outcome, arguing that the party’s national leadership had yet to make a formal declaration and seeking greater clarity on the nomination process.
