A commissioner at the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RAMFAC) in Abuja, Hon Bimbo Kolade has told the embattled Association of Local Government of Nigeria, Oyo state chapter that the struggle to reclaim their mandate is not just a struggle but a struggle for the development of democracy in Nigeria.
Kolade, who is a former commissioner for Local government and chieftaincy matters in the state said true lovers of democracy in the state are behind the embattled chairpersons adding that their struggle will end in win.
He made this known while reacting to the Appeal court judgement in a statement personally signed by him on Thursday and made available to insideoyo.com.
He also advised them not to be discouraged in their fight to reclaim their mandate.
He said: “My dear brothers, sister, colleagues and associates. To say the outcome of today’s judgement is shocking is to say the least but it is not over until it is over, Aluta continua.
“I want to encourage you all not to be discouraged. I will want you to see this struggle not just as a struggle to claim your mandate but as a struggle for the development of democracy in Nigeria.
“This is not about the claim to local government chairman or office but it’s about the entrenchment of true democracy at the grassroot level. Don’t not see this fight as the fight of ALGON versus Seyi Makinde led government but that of fight for democratic rule.
” I will want you to know that pursuing this case to a logical end at the Supreme Court is your own way to make sure democracy survive at the grassroot level.
“I salute your courage and your resolute. I want you to know that true lovers of democracy in the state are behind you, and at the end we shall win.”
