Oyo festival of learning, the first of its kind in Nigeria, kicks off June 29, 2018 to July 5, 2018. The programme is an initiative of Governor Abiola Ajimobi-led government under the Ministry of Education and office of the Special Adviser on Education, Dr. Bisi Akin-Alabi.
Here are few important details of the event:
Participants will have access to 50 free workshops and activities
The workshops target parents; SGB chairmen; pupils; students youths and every one in the society and admission is free
Some of the free workshops include:
Critical thinking in the classroom
Academic interventions
STEM Education
Digital literacy
Paper craft workshop; film making; elocution, history; Write Speak and Spell etc
Keynote speakers from the UK, USA; Abuja South Africa and within the State would engage the audience on topics ranging from Parenting in the 21st Century, Critical thinking and learning; Schools monitoring and regulations; effective teaching and learning; ICT in education and building a sustainable living environment among others.
Activities line up:
1. Hackathon : venue: The Technical University, Ibadan from 29th -1st of July
Participants will be camped, fed and looked after for 3 days and 2 nights and will have opportunities to interact with top experts in IT solutions from the UK who would be looking to engage some of them in our Skills Warehouse.
2. Free Parental Workshop on the 2nd of July at the Western Hall of the Oyo State House of Assembly Complex Secretariat Agodi Ibadan.
3. Children Conference On the 3rd of July 2018 @ the Emeritus Prof Theophilus Ogunlesi Hall, Opposite UCH main gate, Queen Elizabeth Road, Ibadan.
4. The highlight of the Week is the Prime Quality Time with His Excellency, Senator Abiola Ajimobi where he would be interacting with pupils students and decorating outstanding Teachers. Parents, Pupils and other stakeholders; he will also launch the OYOMESI Compendium of Heroes which is a compilation of success stories of some Positive Role Models aimed at inspiring young people to.learn and achieve.
5. The closing ceremony and Learning Fiesta comes up on The 5th of July at the Emeritus Professor Theophilus Ogunlesi Hall.
