The Oke-Ogun Development Consultative Forum has dismissed reports suggesting a rift among traditional rulers in Oke-Ogun, calling for calm and restraint among stakeholders in the region.
The forum made the clarification on Friday while reacting to a viral report titled, “Oke-Ogun Monarchs Sack Association Chairman, Pass Vote of No Confidence on Aseyin.”
It described the publication as misleading and capable of generating unnecessary tension if left unchecked.
ODCF, the umbrella socio-cultural body coordinating unions, associations and stakeholders across Oke-Ogun at home and in the diaspora, said it was necessary to reassure the public that the region’s traditional institution remains united and stable.
According to the statement, any issues involving monarchs would be resolved through dialogue, mutual respect and the long-standing spirit of brotherhood that has continued to define the traditional system in Oke-Ogun.
“The revered traditional rulers of Oke-Ogun are not having any irreconcilable division, as every issue will be responsibly managed through mature dialogue, mutual respect and the enduring spirit of brotherhood,” the statement read.
The organisation urged social media users, bloggers and commentators to desist from sensationalising issues or spreading narratives that could distort the peaceful image of the region.
It further maintained that the monarchs remain symbols of unity, culture, dignity and stability, stressing that their collective commitment to the development of Oke-Ogun remains firm and unwavering.
ODCF also appealed to sons and daughters of Oke-Ogun, both within Nigeria and in the diaspora, to continue supporting efforts aimed at strengthening unity and promoting mutual respect among stakeholders.
“Peace shall reign among our monarchs. Peace shall reign across Oke-Ogun land,” the forum added.
