Political officials from Igbope in Oorelope Local Government Area of Oyo State have listed 21 achievements recorded in the community since the Omituntun 2.0 administration led by Governor Seyi Makinde.
The officials, working under the guidance of Oorelope LG Chairman, Hon. Ogundiran Jacob Oluwale, said the interventions cut across security, education, infrastructure, agriculture, and human capital development.
In a statement released on Friday and signed by the Igbope Political Functionaries 2024/2027, the group said the efforts were aimed at enhancing the reputation of Igbope within Oorelope LGA.
Some of the achievements listed include:
Security and Governance
– Collaboration with community leaders and the king to establish a police station headquarters in Igbope
– Introduction of an Amotekun security post in Alaguntan Village
– Securing Amotekun jobs for seven residents of Igbope
– Facilitating the establishment of the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority, OYTMA, office in Igbope
Infrastructure and Education
– Ongoing road construction from Igbope to Kisi
– Securing approval for the construction of a federal road
– Grading of over 10 kilometers of roads across both wards
– Renovation of Baptist Primary School, Alaguntan Village
– Construction of new classroom blocks in Ayijo Village and Lasubu Village
– Expansion of the Obada River to improve flow and prevent property damage
– Construction of a modern borehole in Irewolede Area
Empowerment and Community Support
– Donation of ₦1,000,000 to the Igbope community for local development
– Monthly assistance of ₦50,000 to ward members
– Scholarships for over 7 members of the community
– Provision of farming materials to local farmers
– Sponsorship of 3 persons for agricultural training in Nasarawa and Ibadan, with grants of ₦150,000 and ₦100,000
– Securing federal and state government jobs for over 30 individuals from Igbope
– Advocacy for the establishment of an Igbope PMS branch
Religion
– Appointment of a new Grand Chief Imam and establishment of the first Grand Mufti of Igbopeland, described as a long-held aspiration of the Igbope Muslim Community
Speaking on the achievements, the officials, including Vice Chairman Hon. Wasiu Adewale Babatunde, Councilors Hon. Aborisade Isaiah and Hon. Iroko Abdulazeez, Supervisor Hon. Alabi Joseph, and S.A. Hon. Odenibi Deborah, said the record reflects the commitment of the current administration from 2024 to present.
“A true leader should exemplify good service and prioritize the needs of the people. While titles may not define a person, actions reveal true capability,” the statement read.
They added that although they may not be the first to serve the community, they have consistently placed community interests above personal gains.
