A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Irepo Local Government, Alhaji Ibrahim Tijani, popularly known as Omupo, has denied claims linking him to parallel congress.
He said this while reacting to Alhaji J.S. Amodu’s claim adding that the allegations are “false, misleading, and malicious.”
“My attention has been drawn to certain reports alleging that I took part in a parallel congress in Irepo Local Government. I wish to state unequivocally that this claim is false, misleading, and malicious. At no point did I join or participate in any parallel congress, nor did I sponsor such an exercise,” he said.
“I am fully involved in the PDP congress, not in any parallel congress with anybody or group. I stand firmly in support of the PDP’s ruling and guidelines guiding the election of new ward executives across the 10 wards of Irepo Local Government, as I was fully involved in the process leading to the selection and electing the new ward executives and the adhoc delegates which went successfully,” Tijani declared.
He reiterated his long-standing commitment to the unity of the party, stressing that disagreements must always be resolved internally and not through acts capable of weakening the PDP.
“My commitment to the unity of our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), remains unwavering. I have always believed that internal disagreements should be resolved through dialogue and inclusiveness, not through acts that may weaken our collective strength,” he said.
“It is unfortunate that my name is being dragged into controversies I know nothing about. I strongly reject these attempts to associate me with actions capable of dividing the party,” he maintained.
The party leader concluded by restating his loyalty to the PDP.
“I remain a loyal party man, dedicated to peace, inclusiveness, and the continued progress of the PDP in Irepo Local Government, Oyo State, and Nigeria at large. Nobody should drag me into anything that can endanger the unity of our dear party,” he said.
