The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) Barr. Mutiu Agboke has solicited for the support of traditional rulers towards the smooth conduct of 2019 general elections.
Barr. Agboke stated this on Thursday 18th October in Eruwa while paying a courtesy visit to Eleruwa of Eruwa land, (HRM) Oba Samuel Adebayo Adegbola in his palace.
REC further reinstated the commitment of the Commission in ensuring that electorate’s vote count. “Our determination is to continue to re-engage all key stakeholders in the electioneering process especially the traditional rulers on the need for collection of PVCs and for the electorate not to sell their votes/ conscience as their votes will definitely count” Barr. Mutiu Agboke reassured.
In his response, the Monarch Oba Samuel Adebayo Adegbola commended the Commission for a well conducted May 2nd House of Assembly bye election conducted in Ibarapa Zone, urging INEC to sustain the tempo come 2019 general elections.
Oba Samuel Adebayo Adegbola appealed to the Commission for the creation of more polling units / voting centres in preparation for the forthcoming 2019 general elections.
REC also presented INEC Strategic Plan of Action / Programme documents to the Monarch.
