The management of Federal College of Agriculture, moor plantation Ibadan, on Monday declared immediate closure of school after students staged a peaceful protest over non-accreditation of their courses.
The protest which disrupted the second semester examination billed to commence today saw the students converging at the administrative block of the institution, chanting solidarity song.
The president of the Students Union, Mr Ramon Balogun lamented the poor attitude of the institution’s management to the accreditation of their courses, delay in the release of results, as well as poor welfare, which they said had affected their studies.
Some of the students appealed to the government and stakeholders to come to their aid for prompt and proper accreditation of all their courses.
They also called for prompt release of their results so as not to affect their academic pursuit.
But in a circular released by the school registrar, Abimbade Abass and seen by InsideOyo.com on Monday evening, the school authority said all students should embark on compulsory mid-semester break and hall of residence shut down.
Over the weekend, the National Association of Nigerian Students, Oyo State Chapter has urged the management of Federal College of Agriculture, Moor plantation to shelve plans to proscribe the Students’ Union Government.
In a statement made available to InsideOyo.com by Asubiojo Olujuwon (Marshal) Chairman, NANS, Oyo State Chapter, the Union body alleged that the management is planning to proscribe for demanding that the management accredits courses before the commencement of 2nd Semester examination on Monday 29th, April, 2019.
