The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has started counting votes in the on going Ibarapa East State Constituency Bye-Election, insideyo.com has gathered.
The Bye-election into Ibarapa East State Constituency was necessitated to fill the position rendered vacant by the death of the late Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Michael Adeyemo.
Reports say accreditation has been completed in the 10 Wards and one hundred and forty polling units spread across the constituency and counting of votes have started.
The Oyo state INEC resident Electoral Commissioner, Barrister Mutiu Agboke, Electoral officers and observers, as well as Security Operatives, pressmen are also on ground to ensure smooth conduct of the exercise.
Also, the Eleruwa of Eruwa, Oba Samuel Akindele and Oni lala of Lanlate, Oba Abdullateef Olawuyi also attested to the peaceful conduct of the bye election while speaking with newsmen.
Seven Political parties participated in the on going Bye election.
