Students of the University of Ibadan, the Polytechnic Ibadan and the teeming youths in Ibadan North Local Government have been urged to vote massively for Hon Folajinmi Oyekunle, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in Saturday’s by-election to fill the vacant Ibadan North House of Representatives seat.
Former Member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and Special Assistant to Governor ‘Seyi Makinde on Akinyele/Lagelu Federal Constituency, Hon Ayo Fatokun, made this appeal on Monday, in a statement he made available to newsmen in Ibadan.
Fatokun, who is the convener of the Ayo Fatokun Foundation, maintained that Oyekunle, popularly known as Don, possesses a wealth of experience as a former legislator and former Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Makinde, which he would deploy to the benefit of the teeming people of Ibadan North Federal Constituency.
Noting that Don remains the best candidate among those applying to replace the late lawmaker, Hon Olaide Akinremi Jagaban, Fatokun made a special appeal to the teeming youth groups in the constituency, noting that youths must make a loud statement by electing the 42-year-old Oyekunle. He further said, we need more young people to represent Oyo State at the National Assembly.
Fatokun, who was born in Agbowo Area of Ibadan North Local Government, declared that youths in the constituency will set a great example for the rest of the country ahead of the 2027 general election, by supporting the #NotTooYoungToRun movement through Oyekunle’s victory to the National Assembly.
“It’s less than a week until the Ibadan North Federal Constituency By-Election. It’s less than a week for the teeming youths in the University of Ibadan, The Polytechnic Ibadan and across the Federal Constituency to prove a very important point by ensuring that experience, exposure and youthfulness, which can all be found in the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon Folajinmi Oyekunle (Don) triumph at the polls.
“This is a special appeal to the teeming youths of Ibadan North Federal Constituency to set a worthy example for youths across the country by voting for Don, a youthful and experienced candidate.
“Oyekunle is tested and trusted, having served in the House of Assembly and gained further experience as a member of the executive arm of government when he served as Governor Makinde’s Deputy Chief of Staff. His election will, no doubt, ensure that Ibadan North has the best possible representation at the National Assembly.”
