Traditional rulers and community leaders in Oluyole Local Government Area of Oyo State have received Otunba Olusina John Ogunsola, the African Democratic Congress, ADC, candidate for Oluyole Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The meeting, held on Thursday, October 8, 2026 at Sawmill, New Garage, Ibadan, was chaired by Alhaji Kabiru, Baale Ayegun Oleyo.
It had in attendance Obas and Baales from different communities across the local government, including HRH Oba Mutala Salami Olumini, Alayunre of Idi Ayunre, HRH Oba Yekini Olatunde, Oni Latunde of Latunde, Baale Agbami, Baale Olubi, Baale Olode, Baale Olojuoro, Baale Idi Iroko, Baale Faraku Soka and Baale Alata, among others.
Addressing the gathering, Ogunsola unveiled his development agenda for Oluyole, with focus on healthcare, education, infrastructure and welfare of traditional rulers.
On healthcare, he pledged to facilitate free basic healthcare services for residents, especially those facing difficulties accessing medical care.
In education, he promised to push for the establishment of tertiary institutions, including universities and colleges of education, in Oluyole to expand access for youths in the area.
He also listed road rehabilitation and rural-urban connectivity as key priorities to boost transportation and economic activities across the 10 wards of the constituency.
Ogunsola further pledged to prioritize the welfare of recognised traditional rulers to support their roles in community development.
In their separate remarks, the traditional rulers expressed support for Ogunsola, citing his interventions in the constituency despite not holding public office.
They listed his youth empowerment programmes, support for market women, scholarships, annual sponsorship of NECO, WAEC and JAMB forms, financial assistance to widows, distribution of palliatives, healthcare support, provision of buses for candidates during SUBEB and TESCOM examinations, and mobilisation for Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, across the 10 wards.
The traditional leaders also described Ogunsola as a son of the soil with ancestral ties to the Iba Oluyole lineage, stressing the importance of local identity and familiarity with grassroots challenges.
The engagement ended with traditional blessings and expressions of support for his aspiration to represent Oluyole Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives on the platform of the ADC.
