Leaders and members of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) in Oyo State have pledged their unwavering support for the governorship aspiration of Barrister Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli (BSA), the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2027 general election.
The declaration was made during a courtesy visit by the governorship candidate to the residence of the Oyo State Chairman of the defunct CPC and State Coordinator of the Bola Tinubu Support Organisation (BTSO), Alhaji Sulaiman Abiodun Oyaremi, who hosted the APC stalwart and his entourage.
Barrister Sharafa Alli was accompanied by notable APC leaders, including Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle, Alhaji Kazeem Abimbola (popularly known as Abogun), and Dr. Tunji Olanipekun of Ibadan Central.
The meeting was attended by leaders and representatives of the defunct CPC drawn from the thirty-three local government areas of Oyo State. Among the prominent leaders present were Alhaji Olayiwola Olonlowo, Alhaji Lukuman Ganiyu and Jelili Kareem from Oyo Zone; Isiak Adeniyi, Jemil Oseni, and Sharafadeen Onijo from Oke-Ogun; Rabiu Oladoja, Buliamin Kelani, and Ayeleniboro from Ibarapa; as well as Ajagbe Nasir, Alimi Jimoh (fondly called Danku), Olatunde Grace and Abisoye Bashir (fondly called Abese) from Ogbomoso. Also present from Ibadan were Alhaji Kaamil Adepoju, Abbas Akande (popularly known as Obesere), Mrs. Christiana Oluyemi Iyiola, Hon. Ganiyu Bakare, Mrs. Janet Foluke Akindele, Alhaji Ismail Oyinlola, Rotimi Adeola Owoade, Nuah Akinosho, Hon. Dhikrullah Odeleye, Idowu Esther, Taofiq Zakariyau, Alhaji Salisu Rasheed and Taofiq Akinbile, among other party stakeholders.
In his address, Barrister Alli outlined his vision for the development of Oyo State, emphasizing a robust educational policy aimed at reducing classroom population to thirty pupils per class, sustaining free education, and implementing graduate agricultural programmes designed to transform job seekers into employers of labour.
He also unveiled plans for industrialization, women and youth empowerment, economic expansion, and a comprehensive security architecture to address the challenges of armed robbery, terrorism, banditry, and other criminal activities across the state.
Speaking on behalf of the defunct CPC structure, Alhaji Sulaiman Abiodun Oyaremi commended Barrister Alli for engaging with grassroots stakeholders and presenting a clear roadmap for the state’s development. He noted that the overwhelming majority of CPC leaders and members in attendance expressed confidence in the APC chieftain’s capacity to provide purposeful leadership for Oyo State.
At the end of the meeting, the leaders and representatives of the defunct CPC unanimously pledged their support for Barrister Sharafa Alli’s governorship aspiration and committed themselves to mobilizing support for the APC candidate and the party’s eventual victory in the 2027 governorship election.
The meeting concluded with prayers for the continued success of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, the progress of the APC, and the peace, security, and prosperity of Oyo State.
