Market leaders in Ogbomoso have disassociated themselves from a statement issued by a group identifying itself as “APIN,” which criticized the office of the Babaloja General of Oyo State.
The Asiwaju Oloja of Ogbomoso land, Alhaji Yekin Olawuyi, and the Iyaloja of Ogbomoso, Alhaja Rafatu Wahab, said over the weekend that traders and artisans in the zone did not authorize the release and did not support its content.
Speaking with journalists in Ogbomoso, the duo described the statement, signed by one Comrade Nafisat Rasheed and Alhaja Salamot Arike, as coming from “faceless individuals” and said it amounted to an affront on the Babaloja General’s office.
“The leadership of traders and artisans in the zone is not in support of the bad attitude and running of mouth diarrhea by the faceless individuals,” they said.
The Ogbomoso zonal leaders added that the timing of the statement was inappropriate given that the zone was still dealing with the abduction of students and teachers. “It is not at this time that the zone is confronted with the rescue of the students and teachers in captivity that they will cause another crisis,” they stated.
They also urged the Babaloja of Bodija, Alhaji Ismail Jimoh, to stop using faceless individuals from Ogbomoso to cause division within the traders’ association. According to them, the association remains widely accepted under the leadership of the Babaloja General of Oyo State, Asiwaju Yekeen Abass.
The leaders pledged the continued loyalty of the Traders and Artisans Association in Ogbomoso land to the Babaloja General of Oyo State.
