Asisat Adegoke, an indigene of Ayete in Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo state has graduated with 4.9 CGPA from the Department of Pharmacology, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, Ogun state.
Adegoke who was the best graduating student of the institution was received by the chairman of Ibarapa North Local Government, Honourable Lateef Akorede in his office, on Tuesday.
While speaking, the chairman commended Adegoke for making Ayete, Ibarapa and Oyo state proud with her academic achievement.
Akorede appreciated her for putting his home town and the state on the world map with her achievement while calling on other sons and daughters in institutions across the world to learn from what Adegoke has done.
He gifted her some amount of money while encouraging her to further in her education.
He also promised to give her employment.
He said: “Let me use this opportunity to welcome you, Miss Adegoke Asisat Aderike to my office. You are indeed our pride. You are a pride of Ayete, Ibarapa land and Oyo state in general.
“Your excellent academic achievement will serve as lessons to others sons and daughters of Ayete, Ibarapa land and Oyo state in schools across the globe.
“On behalf of the good people of Ibarapa North Local Government Area, I congratulate you on this outstanding achievement. I want to let you know that our administration will support you in your academic journey. We will, as well give employment, if need be. But we want you to further in your academic sojourn. We will do our best to support you.
“Once again, on behalf of the good people of Ibarapa North Local Government, we want to appreciate you with this cash. Congratulations, our pride.”
Earlier, Adegoke in an interview with Legit NG recounted how challenging it was for her to survive in school following the death of her father and how she and her siblings were raised by their single mother.
She said that her major challenge as an undergraduate was finance because her father died fifteen years ago while her siblings were also in school.
She, however, said the challenge served as motivation for her.
She added that she looked forward to getting a fully funded scholarship in the United Kingdom.
