The Chairman of ATISBO Local Government Area of Oyo state, Alhaji Bashir Olumuyiwa Alade, has laid the foundation for a new police post in Baasi community as part of efforts to strengthen security across the council area.
The project, according to the chairman, is aimed at addressing persistent security challenges along the Baasi–Agunrege axis and improving safety for residents and commuters within the area.
Alade performed the foundation-laying ceremony shortly before commencing the distribution of empowerment items to residents of the local government.
At the distribution event, the council boss distributed electric motorcycles, food items, and cash support to beneficiaries across the local government, in what he described as part of ongoing efforts to cushion the effects of economic hardship and deepen grassroots governance.
The exercise saw ward chairmen and selected stakeholders receive electric bikes to enhance mobility and improve administrative effectiveness within their respective wards.
Speaking during the programme, Alade noted that the initiative was also designed to strengthen community structures and support vulnerable groups amid current economic realities.
He disclosed that bags of rice were distributed across all wards, as well as to various associations and unions, to ensure inclusivity and wide-reaching impact.
The chairman added that cash support was extended to residents and community groups to further ease financial burdens at the grassroots level.
According to him, more than 260 individuals benefitted from the intervention.
Alade reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to people-oriented policies, stressing that efforts would continue to focus on improving the welfare and security of residents across Atisbo Local Government.
He also called for sustained cooperation and support from the people to ensure the success of ongoing developmental initiatives.
