Gov. Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State on Thursday solicited the intervention of the World Bank in funding education-based projects in the state.
Ajimobi, who spoke through his deputy, Chief Moses Adeyemo, made the appeal at the opening ceremony of the World Bank South West States Portfolio Performance Review held at Premier Hotel, Ibadan.
According to him, the state government has spent hugely to revamp the educational system in the state.
“Oyo State appreciates the interventions of the World Bank in developmental projects of the state, including the Ibadan Urban Flood Management Project and Community and Social Support Development Projects.
“The projects which perfectly align with the state’s development priorities have contributed to the socio-economic growth of the state.
“More interventions in education-based projects and Government Integrated Financial Management System are required.
“I should put on record the untainted support the state government continues to enjoy from the World Bank.
“We crave for continued support even as various projects continue to run their full course,” he said.
The state’s Commissioner for Finance and Budget, Mr Abimbola Adekanmbi, described the performance review as an exercise to evaluate the adherence to rules and terms guiding the execution of developmental projects sponsored by the World Bank.
