Following the victory of the candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Saturday’s election in Osun West Senatorial District, Dr Ademola Adeleke, the Oyo State chapter of the PDP has said that the revolution against the bad governance of the All Progressives Congress, APC has started with Osun. The party added that “it will move to Oyo State and the entire country; it is only a matter of time.”
A congratulatory message signed by the party’s administrative secretary and former Oyo Speaker, Hon. Asimiyu Alarape, commended the winner and the Hon. Soji Adagunodo-led state executive as well as the people of the state, saying an “end has come to APC’s deceitful politics.”
The party called on Nigerians, the people of the South-West states and especially Oyo State residents, to toe the line of the Osun West voters by voting against bad governance, failure to pay salaries as and when due, mass sack of workers, failing economy and increasing poverty brought upon the state by the APC government.
According to a statement, Adeleke’s victory in the election was not only a victory for PDP, but also a victory for the masses, “who had been taken for a ride and neglected by the APC government in the state and the country.”
The statement called on PDP members in Oyo State to follow the example of their Osun State counterparts by uniting and leaving all differences behind them, saying a lot could be achieved by the party if it unites.
The party further maintained that the APC, despite its lofty promises before gaining control of states and even at the federal level, has ended up badly disappointing the people, leaving them poorer than ever, calling on the people of Oyo State to change the “negative change” exemplified by the APC government “whenever the time comes to decide through the ballot.”
“We congratulate the Osun PDP executive, leaders and followers, the Senator-elect, Dr Ademola Adeleke and the Adeleke family for standing firm and getting justice against the Lagos bandits running Osun State while we also salute the courage of the voters. This, of course, is a timely warning for the APC, which has become a synonym for failed promises that their game is up in the South-West.
