The governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress(APC) in Oyo state, Chief Bayo Adelabu, has said the planned alliance of major opposition parties in the state against his candidature can not stop him and the APC from winning the March 9 governorship election in the state.

Adelabu stated this at an interactive session with journalists in Ibadan on Saturday.

According to him,”their alliance is a testimony that none of them can single-handedly defeat Adelabu. They are seeking help and it is good. The level of support for Adelabu and the APC is overwhelming, let them come together.”

He revealed that APC has conducted an independent sampling and data collection across all the zones in the state, noting it pointed at a victory for his party.

“We have 68% of votes across all the zones in Oyo state,” he said. Fourteen percent is shared by the opposition across the state while 18% are undecided. Out of the 18%, some are waiting for the result of today’s election.

“All of them together cannot beat Adelabu and APC,” he said.

Reacting to the insinuations that he is a protege to the incumbent governor, Sen. Abiola Ajimobi, he said: “People that know me know that I am my own man. Ajimobi will not intervene in my administration, he can only advise as a party leader.”

He said he joined politics for the upliftment of the masses, adding that he offered himself as a “sacrificial lamb.”

He continued: “If I win without holding any political office before, and from a corporate world, it will serve as incentive to others like me to join politics.”

He listed the seven points agenda of his administration to include: Security, Agriculture, Education, Housing, Health, Environment and Transportation.

He added that if elected, his administration will make Agriculture, Education and Health the focal point in the first four years.

He described the killing that occurred in Kudeti during Saturday’s presidential and national assembly election as “an unfortunate incident.”

He said he doesn’t believe in do or die politics, expressing belief that the appropriate authorities will investigate the matter.

“I believe INEC and the state government will investigate. Almighty Allah will repose the soul of the deceased,” he said.
