In the last two weeks, there has been news that the factional leader of Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) and Aare Ona-Kankanfo of Yoruba; Gani Adams recently made a self-indicting allegations regarding what he called terrorists invasion of Oke-Ogun area of Oyo State.
Unfortunately, his fellow in the fraud business or the gullible elements have taken him serious. Well, whichever way they took they have that freedom. Similarly, I have the rights to also inform the public of the dangers and interests supposed Aare Ona-Kankanfo is defending.
First and foremost, while Odua People’s Congress was a peaceful organization established by Late Friedrick Faseun, it was Gani Adam that turned the group to a terrorist organization maiming people recklessly until the government checked its excesses. So, one wonders why a chief of terrorists now make flimsy excuse to attack those not in his camp. As rightly observed by a former News Editor of The Punch; Tunde Odesola in one of his messages that “he did not see any visible impact of the Adams-led Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) ……. He linked the organisation more to thuggery and violence than noble objectives”. So, why would informed person be made to accept such a self-indicting message from such a character
More so, it is on record that Gani Adams has been envious and covetous of my compatriot; Chief Sunday Adeyemo (aka Sunday Igboho) for decades as he has failed to match up with him in any credible way not even his purchased Aare title could do the wonder. Fortunately, Sunday Igboho is from Igboho-Oke-Ogun and Gani Adams is weary of his shining star which he could not match. So, claiming terrorists exist in places where Sunday Igboho hails from was an attempt to ridicule Sunday Igboho as being unable to curtail Gani-assumed terrorists incursion in Oke-Ogun yet Sunday was planning to help Yoruba nation.
Furthermore, Gani Adam used similar ploy of non-existent security information to seek contract of pipeline protection in South west from the government of former President Dr Goodluck Jonathan when he claimed ability to curtail pipeline vandals perhaps because his boys were the vandals, the proceeds of which he used to launch his group terrorist attack on Lagos State among others vandalizing public properties. Same person who thought Amotekun would be given to him but was disappointed now raised false alarm immediately Amotekun recruitment started but not through him. Unfortunately, one of the leaders of same Amotekun has gullibly fallen to Gani Adam tricks. I hope such a leader would not disappoint the State governor that appointed him.
On the false claim of Gani Adams that someone was sponsored, he should be bold to come out that the person he was alleged was not a questionable character like him. His plans like his co-peddlers to sink the ship of progress of the nation would fail as they have failed before. When an allegation of that magnitude is made, the onus is on the person making the allegation to provide enough evidence as done in this treatise. With that, security agencies should invite Aare Gani Adams to their offices to provide them details of his allegations. Otherwise Gani Adams should know he is one of the arch-enemies of Yoruba nation causing disunity by all means. Gani Adams should know that patriotic indigenes of South West would not allow him to pocket the region again as his failure to get federal and regional government contracts which make him and colleagues to be peddling their lies to force government dish them brown envelopes or contracts at the expense of the society can no longer sell.
The other time some twins were kidnapped in Ibadan, it was the mastermind of that heinous crime that first started crocodile tears according to media reports. Similarly, the Security agencies should set their search light on the Aare to ensure he leads them to where his colleagues are in the bush. It is not unlikely that he is indirectly launching a terrorist group which he wants public eyes to be away from him so that he would have ample time and opportunity to grow big under false attempt of defending Yoruba land. When organized crime is to be staged anywhere, what the masterminds do is to dissuade public attention from them using some dubious approaches.
What has Aare ditto to his cohorts done to the terrorists on Oyo roads in police and operation burst uniforms terrorizing our people on daily basis even when people have been crying of the criminality of official armed robbers on our roads? But would they have loved the people of the area if failed to condemn official armed robbers on our roads?
I trust Aare and colleagues, their boys are among the official armed robbers terrorizing our people on the road with gun daily and perhaps they collect returns. So, they are satisfied with that and would not raise their voices to restore orderliness but would cry foul where there is none. Enough of crocodile tears from enemies within!
