Teachers of Al-Qalam Schools, Ibadan have bagged First Aider Certification to enable them discharge their duties in accordance with the global best practice.
The school recently sponsored five of her Teachers for a First Aider Certification Course to ensure learners and staff’s safety within the school system.
The School’s First Aiders are: Mr Ajala AbdMu’min Olalekan (The School Administrator) , Mr Afolabi Idris Olajide (Principal), Miss Baliquis Akano Bola (College Representative), Mrs Usman Tohirat Olamide (Primary Representative) and Mrs AbdulRasheed Mariam (Nursery Representative).
The Team gave kudos to the leadership of Al-Qalam Schools Ibadan for trying the possible best in implementing measures to safe guard learners and for supporting their wellness.
The College Principal, Mr Idris Afolabi said that a good knowledge of the first aid will make every member of staff to be more active and alert to safety needs.
He said the certification training ended successfully on Sunday 14th January, 2024.
In his words, the School Administrator, Mr Abdul’Mumin Ajala Olalekan said: “we expect every staff to take reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by what they do at work.
“They are to co-operate with the school on health and safety matters and do their work in accordance with training and instructions”.
The Management of Al-Qalam echoed that the ongoing Health and Safety Awareness was designed to establish that Teachers and other staff have a common responsibility when in charge of pupils to take the same care of them as they would as a parent.
Captains at the school said that the school kicked off a massive awareness about health and safety among staff and students since February, 2022 where the entire staff were trained on basic skills of First Aid.
In view of this, the school’s consistent efforts align with her safeguarding statement “we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our learners and expect our stakeholders to share this commitment”.
The leadership of Al-Qalam Schools Ibadan therefore sought support from Government, NGOs and relevant stakeholders on their mission.
