In celebration of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Month, the Rotary Club of Ibadan City Central has commissioned a significant community service project in Ofiki, ATISBO Local Government area of Oyo state.
The project, made possible by a Rotary District 9125 Grant for the 2023-2024 Rotary Year, brings clean water and sanitation facilities to the community.
The commissioning ceremony, held on March 15, 2025, was attended by distinguished guests, including Past District Governor Obafunso Ogunkeye, who supervised the project, and represented Immediate Past District Governor Rtn Sagab Ahmed.
Other notable attendees included President of the Rotary Club of Ibadan City Central, Rtn. Adekunle Adebayo, Immediate Past President Rtn. Adekunle Adebayo, and the Kabiyesi of Ofiki land, Rtn Oba Gbenga Adigun Adeoye.
The project’s highlights included the inauguration of the 5-man Rotary Community Corps which is a team dedicated to promoting community development and service. This corps will work closely with the community to identify needs and implement projects that benefit the local population.
Also, commissioning of a Borehole project while will provide clean water to the community. This borehole will serve as a reliable source of water, reducing the risk of water-borne diseases and improving the overall health of the community.
Public Toilet Facility which will improve sanitation and hygiene in the area. This facility will provide a clean and safe space for community members to use, reducing the risk of open defecation and associated health risks.
Similarly, Seven Lockup Shops which will boost the local economy and supporting small businesses. These shops will provide a platform for local entrepreneurs to sell their goods and services, stimulating economic growth and development in the community.
The Rotary Club of Ibadan City Central’s efforts align with Rotary International’s focus on water, sanitation, and hygiene, emphasizing the importance of access to clean water and sanitation facilities for healthier communities.
This project demonstrates the club’s commitment to improving the lives of those in need and promoting sustainable development.

The event concluded with refreshments at the GemRoyal Hotel Ofiki, where attendees celebrated the successful completion of the project.
