The Oyo State Road Transport Management Agency (OYRTMA) said it will deploy sufficient men and officers of the Agency to strategically man some Schools that are prone to accidents because of their locations across the State considering the resumption of school pupils this Monday, 16th September, 2019.

This was disclosed today by the State Commander of the Agency, Commander Adeoye Ayoade at the State Headquarters, Agodi, Ibadan.

In his words, the Commander said “The Executive Chairman of the Oyo State Road Transport Management Agency, Mogaji (Dr.) Akin Fagbemi has approved the deployment of our agile men and officers to strategic points across the State particularly Public School areas where pupils would be crossing the roads and highways as Schools resumes this Monday.”

“We are aware that the Free Qualitative Education Policy of The Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde has exponentially increased school’s enrolment. We anticipate that this huge enrolment figures would translate to huge human traffic on certain road corridors. It is in our bid to taking proactive rather than reactionary measures to curbing road accidents involving school pupils who are the greatest asset and future of the State that the Executive Chairman approved the deployment.”

The Agency further advised teachers, parents and guardians to adequately monitor the movement of their Children and wards.

“Leaving some teenagers to cross the roads by themselves is a risky adventure. We advise parents and guardians to create time to take their children and wards to school to avoid stories that touches. It is our hope that we significantly reduce children accident index to zero or its barest minimum in the State”, Commander Adeoye concluded.
