More than 10,000 people thronged Apata, Ido Local Government Area, on Saturday as Hon. Aderemi Oseni, member representing Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, unveiled a ₦50 million empowerment scheme for traders and scholarship opportunities for students.

The event, which doubled as the Grand General Meeting of the Remi Oseni Committee of Friends (ROCOF), brought together artisans, market women, youth leaders, political stakeholders, and community elders.

Addressing the crowd, Oseni described the gathering as both a “homecoming” to his political base and proof of a rising grassroots revolution.

“Some weeks ago, we inaugurated ROCOF in Ibadan. That day, a flame of hope was lit. Today in Ido, that flame has become a roaring fire. From zero, we now have over 265,000 registered members across Oyo State, and by December 2025, we will be 500,000 strong. This is not by accident,it is evidence that our people are hungry for change and thirsty for hope,” Oseni said, to thunderous applause.

He stressed that ROCOF was not a parallel party but a grassroots engine under the APC umbrella.

“ROCOF is not in opposition to APC. We are builders, mobilizers, and torchbearers of progress within the APC family,” he clarified.

Highlighting his empowerment agenda, Oseni announced a ₦50 million support fund for women and traders in Ido and Ibarapa East.

“We cannot ignore our women who trade daily to feed their families. That is why today, I am committing ₦50 million to support them. Empowerment is not luxury, it is survival, and our people must live with dignity,” he declared.

He further unveiled plans to launch the Remi Oseni Asoludero Food Bank and Subsidized Market Scheme, targeted at widows, the aged, and indigent families, to provide affordable food and cushion hardship.

On education, the lawmaker reiterated his commitment to sponsoring WAEC and JAMB forms for indigent students. He also announced the ROCOF University Scholarship Scheme, promising full tuition support for any student who scores five A’s in WAEC and gains admission into a tertiary institution.

“Our youths are not thugs or beggars. They are leaders. If you are brilliant and determined, ROCOF will support you from entry to graduation. No youth will be left behind,” Oseni pledged.

Speaking on the future of Oyo politics, Oseni noted that the mission of ROCOF is built around six interwoven objectives. At its core is the determination to deliver Oyo State for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, while also working tirelessly to return the All Progressives Congress (APC) to power in Agodi.

He added that the movement will continue to empower its members to contest elective offices, liberate marginalized voices in politics, and expand economic opportunities, especially for women and traders. Youth empowerment and education, he stressed, remain the backbone of this agenda, as no society can rise without investing in its younger generation.

Oseni praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ongoing reforms, urging members to take the message of the President’s achievements to every ward and household.

“President Tinubu is coming back in 2027. His victory will not come by wishes but by work. Let us campaign house-to-house, street-to-street, and defend his good works. Together, we will deliver Oyo for him,” he charged.

Oseni assured constituents that road construction and federal projects would soon commence in Ido/Ibarapa East, noting that his stewardship since 2023 had already brought empowerment, education support, and federal presence to the area.

“Since you gave me your mandate, I have not failed you. This is just the beginning, more is coming,” he affirmed.

Closing his speech, the lawmaker called for unity, resilience, and unwavering focus.

“This is not the time for complacency but for action. Together, we shall deliver Tinubu in 2027. Together, we shall return APC to Agodi. Together, we shall empower women, educate our youth, and feed the hungry. Together, we shall build a new Oyo State, a new Nigeria, and a brighter future. This is our moment. This is ROCOF,” Oseni declared.

Dignitaries at the event included Barr. Yemi Aderibigbe, APC Youth Leader John Aremu, and other party stakeholders.
