The APC lawmaker representing Iseyin, Itesiwaju, Kajola and Iwajowa federal constituency, Hon. Shina Peller and his PDP counterpart, representing Iseyin/Itesiwaju State constituency, Hon. (Surv) Bamidele Adeola have shunned political party difference and united towards the development of their constituencies and Oyo State.
The duo while on a tourism tour to the Ado-Awaye suspended lake, organized by Iseyin Development Group, during the Eid Kabir celebration, jointly called on the Oyo State government to consider turning the suspended lake to a world class tourist center, adding that it has commercial potential capable of boosting the State internal generated revenue.
Speaking with newsmen, Bamidele Adeola noted that the Ado Awaye Suspended lake is one of the two suspended lakes in the world, affirming his claim that the other one is located at Colorado state of the USA.
He said, “Obviously we are blessed in Oyo State with this great free gift of nature like the Ado-Awaye Suspended Lake and many other tourism centers across the State, that why we are calling on our amiable Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde to consider promoting tourism in Oyo state as alternative way to sole reliance on statutory allocation as economic source.
“All we need to do is to invest in building a good road network around here, improve security, provide amusing facilities and make the environment of the lake habitable for tourists.
“We pray this is embrace by Oyo state Government to give a facelift to Ado Awaye Suspended lake, Ikere Gorge dam and other tourism centres in Oyo State.”
In his own words, Hon. Shina Peller said aside the promising potential of Ado Awaye Suspended Lake in boosting Oyo State Internal Generated Revenue if duly explore and promoted, the residents of the host communities will definitely experience economic growth.
According to the business tycoon turn lawmaker, the tourism project will definitely create thousands of both direct and indirect jobs for indigenes and residents of the host community and its neighbouring towns.
“If Ado-Awaye suspended lake becomes a renown tourism center, Iseyin and other One Ogun communities are known for manufacturing of ‘Aso Oke’ Yoruba most popular traditional fabrics, this can be easily exported to other States, Countries and even Continents.
“Also our local dishes can become internationally sort after. Not to talk of direct jobs for tour guards, staff for the center, opportunity for restaurants and bar owners, chalets and so on,” he added.
