A US-based Nigerian NGO, The George Aid Foundation, has extended humanitarian support to residents of Ogungbade Community in Egbeda Local Government Area of Ibadan, distributing food items and offering free medical checks as part of its July outreach.
The intervention was done in collaboration with Peace and His Favour Private School, Ogungbade, which celebrated its 10th anniversary on Saturday.
The anniversary celebration doubled as a platform for community service, with beneficiaries receiving food packs alongside free medical examinations covering vitals, dental care, and eye tests. Residents also attended a health talk on healthy eating habits facilitated by Mr. Sunday Genyo.
Speaking on behalf of The George Aid Foundation, *Rotarian Kunle Aare* said the NGO seized the school’s milestone to give back to the Ogungbade community and address pressing issues of hunger and malnourishment.
“As part of giving back to society and in a bid to address malnourishment and hunger in communities in Ibadanland, we decided to partner with Peace and His Favour School on their 10th anniversary,” Aare stated.
“This is our July edition of food distribution. We believe no child and no family should go to bed hungry. We used this celebration as a pedestal to reach the people of Ogungbade,” he added.
Aare further disclosed that the Foundation is exploring the possibility of bringing a consortium of medical consultants to the community for more comprehensive health interventions in the coming months.
In her goodwill message, the Proprietor of Peace and His Favour Private School, Ogungbade, said the 10th anniversary celebration was made possible through the support and donations of The George Aid Foundation, which she described as “an organization championing healthy food for all.”
“We are grateful to George Aid Foundation for making this anniversary memorable. Their support has not only fed our community but also given our pupils and parents access to free health checks,” she said.
Beneficiaries, including the former Treasurer of the Landlords’ Association, Pa. Samuel Afolabi, and Mr. Kayode Olayanju, described the collaboration as the first of its kind in the area.
“We have never witnessed this kind of collaboration in our community. The food, the medical checks, the health talk — it has touched many homes,” Pa. Afolabi said.
As part of the outreach, residents were screened for blood pressure, blood sugar, dental issues and eye defects. Mr. Sunday Genyo also delivered a lecture on healthy eating habits, emphasizing nutrition for children and families.
The George Aid Foundation said it remains committed to supporting vulnerable communities across Ibadanland through food security programs, health outreaches, and partnerships with schools and local groups.
