The Governing Council for Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology (OYSCATECH), Igboora at its regular meeting held on January 27 and 28, 2022 reviewed its activities for the year 2021 and commended the Governing Council Chairman for his leadership acumen, while it listed some of its achievements for the just concluded year 2021.
Prof. Lateef Sanni who thanked God for His mercies and protection over the Governing Council Members, Staff and Students of OYSCATECH, commended the Executive Governor of Oyo State for his effort at making life comfortable for workers in the State.
Prof. Sanni also listed some of the achievements in Year 2021 to include; approval of the appointment of the Deputy Rector, Dr. Taiwo Akinyemi and extension of the tenure of College Bursar, Dr. Sarafa Agbogun till December, 2022.
According to him, “other achievements include; approval of Liaison office for the College at the Public Corporations Commission Building, Government House, Agodi ; the facility had been put into use since October, 2021 and approval of the Year 2021 Tertiary Education Trust Fund Intervention Allocation for the College on 23rd August, 2021.
The Council also noted, the allocation of the Year 2020 Tertiary Education Trust Fund Zonal Intervention for Solar Street Light and Accessories and Securing International Training of Trainers on Research proposal writing and Research proposal Grant Management Capacity Building Workshop for a member of Staff in the United States and another Zonal Intervention II for the year 2021 among others.
An Octogenarian and member of Governing Council, Dr. Amos Ilori Abegunde who spoke on behalf of the other Council Members applauded the Governing Council Chairman for the way and manner in which he conducts the affairs of the Governing Council.
He congratulated him on his recent appointment as the Head of Station for IITA, Abuja.
The Octogenarian Artist then presented a portrait made by him to Prof. Sanni on behalf of other Council members.
The Council among others reconsidered the report of the meeting of Appointment and Promotion Committee (A&PC) for 2021 Academic Staff Promotion Exercise and report of Appointment and Technical Staff Committee (A&TSC) for 2021 Senior Non-Academic Staff Promotions Exercise and also noted the report of Junior Staff Committee on Appointments for 2021 Promotion Exercise.
In a related development, the Management of Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology (OYSCATECH), Igboora have commended the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), its 57th President, Mrs. Comfort Olu Eyitayo and the Chairman, Ibadan and District Society of the Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria, Mr. Abiodun Hezekiah Adedeji for the donation of another round of books to the Accountancy Department of Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora.
While presenting the books to the acting Rector, the Bursar for Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora, Dr. Sarafa Agbogun who is also a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and the facilitator of the donation thanked the leadership of ICAN at the National and State level for the kind gesture.
Dr. Agbogun noted that ICAN is committed to supporting schools where accounting profession is taught such that accounting graduates would not be half baked. Dr. Agbogun expressed joy that his professional body has been able to impact the Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora positively with the second round of book donation to the Institution.
The Acting Rector thereafter handed over to the books to the Head of Accountancy Department, Mrs. Olabisi Ajiboye.
Receiving the over 400 books on behalf of Accountancy Department, the Head of Department also joined others in appreciating the ICAN for supporting teaching and learning in OYSCATECH.
She pointed out that the book donation will assist the institution during National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) accreditation Exercise which is around the corner.
She also expressed confidence that more streams would be added to the existing streams for accountancy programme of the institution.
She hinted that the institution will make judicious use of the books towards enhancing the quality of teaching of students, in order to produce world class graduates.
The Head of Accountancy Department called on ICAN to replicate what they have done in other schools for OYSCATECH such as donation of Halls with modern ICT facilities.
Some of the books donated are study pack on Basic Accounting, Financial Reporting, Financial Accounting, Principles of Audit, Strategic Financial Management, Cost Accounting, Communication Skills, Taxation, Principles and Practice of Financial Accounting.
Others are study packs on Preparing Tax Computations and Returns, Quantitative Analysis, Public Sector Accounting and Finance and Question and Answers Study Pack.
It would be recalled that the first books donated were on Business Communication and Research Methodology, Principles of Audit, Information Technology, Management Information System, Cost Accounting, Principles and Practice of Financial Accounting, Business and Finance and Management.
Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora, since 2016 had introduced Accountancy programme as one of the courses being taught at the institution upon the change in the status of the institution from Monotechnic to Polytechnic.
The book presentation had in attendance, the Deputy Rector, Dr. Taiwo Akinyemi, the Acting Registrar, Mr. Paul Oyediran, the Acting Librarian, Mr. Rasak Oyewo, the Acting Director of Audit, Mr. Kolawole Atanda, Acting Director of Works and Services, Engr. Fagbemi Agboola, the Secretary to Management, Mr. Olajire Gbadamosi and the three Deputy Bursars, Mr. Dupe Ogundapo, Mrs Sekinat Adejuwon and Mr, Joshua Taiwo.
