The Oyo State Acting State Scout Commissioner (SSC) of the Scout Association of Nigeria (TSAN), Oyo State Scout Council, Mr. Adetunji Adepeju has been suspended.
The suspension of Mr. Adetunji Adepeju which was contained in a letter written to him by the National Executive Commissioner, Engr. BOA Oyetayo MNSE, and a copy of which was obtained by InsideOyo.com.
According to the letter, Mr Adepeju was suspended for deliberate act of insubordination and double standards with an attempt to create chaos, lawlessness and acrimony within the Nigerian Scout community in Oyo State and beyond.
The suspension letter written on 24 March, 2021 with reference TSAN/OYO_QRY/0321/045 is a follow up to the Chief Commissioner’s query of 08 March, 2021 to Mr. Adepeju where he (Adepeju) was queried for deliberately conducting a General Assembly without the consent of the appointed President of Oyo State Scout Council and for also mischievously presenting a former Ag. President, Barrister Obafunso Ogunkeye, whose tenure has expired on 30 June, 2020, to address and preside over the Oyo State Scout Council General Meeting.
He was also reminded of the expiration of his tenure of office. He is to be investigated based on his acts of insubordination and further disciplinary actions by the National Scout Headquarters.
He has been directed to hand over all properties of the Scout Association of Nigeria, Oyo State Scout Council at his disposal to the State President of Oyo State Scout Council, His Lordship, Hon. Justice Munta Abimbola. Adepeju has also been told to stop parading himself as Ag.SSC henceforth.
It read: “Recall the Chief Commissioner’s query of 08 March 2021 Ref: TSAN/OYO_QRY/0321/039, wherein you allegedly and purportedly conducted an Annual General Meeting in Ibadan on the 5th of March 2021 without obtaining the necessary permissions from the President of Oyo State Scout Council, His Lordship, Justice Munta Ladipo Abimbola, Chief Judge of Oyo State Scout Council, haven been duly made aware of His appointment as President of Oyo State Scout Council and to whom you paid a courtesy visit in His capacity as the President of Oyo State Scout Council and pledged your loyalty and support to him as Head of The Scout Association of Nigeria, Oyo State Scout Council.
“Whereas you mischievously presented the former Ag. President, Barrister Obafunso Ogunkeye to address and preside over the Oyo State Scout Council General Meeting as the President of Oyo State Scout Council, a fact you are fully aware to be false and misleading Inspite of information at your disposal that your tenure effectively expired on the 30th of June 2020 alongside his.
“The Chief Commissioner has viewed your actions as a deliberate act of insubordination, haven advised you inter-alia to desist from conducting a General Assembly without obtaining the permission of the Oyo State Chief Judge as the appointed President of Oyo State Scout Council.
“2.The Chief Commissioner also reviewed your response dated 10 March 2021 and after due consultations with his committee and other relevant stakeholders, reached the conclusion that your deliberate actions/inactions smacks of an attempt to create chaos, lawlessness, and acrimony within the Nigerian Scout community in Oyo State and beyond.
“3. I am hereby directed to inform you that you are suspended from continuing to act as the Acting State Scout Commissioner for the Oyo State Scout Council with immediate effect, your tenure in office haven expired on the 30 day of June 2020 notwithstanding.
“4. You are further directed to hand over all properties of The Scout Association of Nigeria, Oyo State Scout Council at your disposal to the State President of Oyo Scout Council, Hon. Justice Munta Ludipo Abimbola who is hereby, humbly mandated to investigate further, the immediate”
