The Oyo state Rural Water Sanitation Agency (Oyo RUWASSA) has distributed Sodium Hypochlorite (Chlorine Granule) and Chlorine Test Kit to 33 local government areas, 35 local council development areas, Federation of Muslim Women’s Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN), Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), and oothes in the state.
This items were given to Environmental/Sanitarian Officers on Wednesday at the premises of agency in Ibadan, the state capital.
One bucket of chlorine granule was given to each local government area, local council development areas, FOMWAN, CAN, LIRECAF, LIWON, WATER AID while one Chlorine test kit was given to each local government and other partners.
While speaking, the chairman of OYORUWASSA, Engineer Najeem Omirinde said the Sodium Hypochlorite (Chlorine Granule) and Chlorine Test Kit were donated to the agency by United Nations Children’s Fund.
He thanked UNICEF for the donation while commending Governor Seyi Makinde for providing enabling environment which necessitates the returning of UNICEF to Oyo state for sponsorship and partnership.
He urged the Environmental/Sanitarian officers and others to make judicious use of the items adding that Governor Seyi Makinde in his magnanimity has promised to buy more Sodium Hypochlorite (Chlorine Granule) and Chlorine Test Kit if needs be.
He commended Oyo RUWASSA partners for their supports to the agency.
Also speaking, Mr Mumeen Adeduntan, Oyo RUWASSA Acting General Manager, said the items will be used for testing PH and Chlorine.
He said the items will help rural and urban dwellers to get potable water supply and prevent water borne diseases like typhoid others.
While responding on behalf of the Environmental/Sanitarian officers, Mrs Aransi from Oluyole local government thanked UNICEF for the donation and Oyo RUWASSA for distributing the items.
She promised that they will make judicious use of the items and prayed that Oyo state will be free of diseases.
Also speaking, Alhaja Bushroh Oloso, Ameerah FOMWAN, thanked Oyo state government and Oyo RUWASSA for considering religious organizations and others in the distribution.
She commended the Oyo state government for being people’s government especially during this cholera and Lassa Fever outbreak.
Present at the event included Oyo RUWASSA Chairman, Engineer Najeem Omirinde, Eng Abu Salami; Board Member, Baale Olayiwola; Board Member, Hon Sunday Ayobami; Board Member, Mrs A. Akande; Representative of the Ministry of Health, Directors at Oyo RUWASSA and Environmental/Sanitarian officers from all LGAs.
