Engineer Aderemi Abass Oseni, the lawmaker representing Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, on Tuesday, inaugurated a transformative community-based development initiative in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo state.
The cornerstone of this initiative is a monumental 5 billion naira Ido/Ibarapa East Development Endowment Fund.
The lawmaker also inaugurated a 12-member Board of Registered Trustees, Advisory Governing Board, Central Executive Management Team, 60 Special Assistants and volunteers and one borehole per polling unit.
Speaking at the launch, Oseni said, “I am committed to inaugurating a community-based development model that prioritizes inclusiveness and collaboration.
“My aim is to foster joint efforts in identifying needs, selecting programs, engaging in project crowdfunding, and actively participating in the implementation of various projects.”
While highlighting the governance structure, Oseni said, “Roles and responsibilities of committees have been clearly delineated to ensure seamless coordination and collaboration. I am also excited to launch the Oseni Youth Empowerment Scheme (OYES).
“The goal is to empower and support the emergence of 100 new youth millionaires from Ido/Ibarapa East within the next 12 years.”
Oseni, who is also the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA), addressed key initiatives, stating, “To tackle the lack of access to clean water, I launched the ‘Operation One Borehole Per Voting/Polling Unit’ initiative, with plans to drill 50 motorized boreholes across the constituency.”
On education, he said, “Starting from 2024, parents in my federal constituency will not pay for JAMB and WAEC registration. The Remi Oseni Education Support Scheme will provide scholarships, tuition fee support, and free JAMB registration.”
Also speaking, the APC Gubernatorial Candidate at the 2023 general election, Sen Teslim Folarin, commended the initiative, saying, “This community-based approach to development is commendable and reflects a commitment to the people.”
Chief Niyi Akintola, SAN, expressed his support, stating, “This initiative is a testament to Hon. Aderemi Abass Oseni’s dedication to community development.”
The 12-member Board of Trustees includes prominent figures such as Engr Remi Oseni, Suberu Olarenwaju, Chief Niyi Akintola (SAN) Olayanju Ishola, Aladeselu Henry, Yunus Olarenwaju, Raheem Fatima Iyabode, Adegbola Adeola, Olowe Samuel, Yusuf Niyi, Sanusi Adekola, and Adeyemo Adekunle.
During the event, Oseni deposited 50 million naira and a special dedicated account for the endowment fund. He also announced that a special committee would be inaugurated to mobilize and manage the funds.
The event featured a Mega Empowerment, where Deep Freezers, Generators, Sewing Machines, Dryers, and Motorcycles were distributed to community members.
Additionally, 100 beneficiaries received cash grants of N1,000,000 each, aiming to raise 100 millionaire youth entrepreneurs.
In total, 562 individuals were beneficiaries of this impactful initiative, transforming lives across Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency.
